Cause and Effect Relationships of Columbian Exchange
Cause 1: Europeans needed a water route so that they didn't have to use the land route to get goods that were pricey when they got to Europe from India.
Effect 1:They built a Caravela ship to be able to sail around Africa .
Cause 3: Went to the Canary Islands when sailing around Africa.
Effect 3: Europeans introduced the Africans living there to diseases.
Cause 2:They discovered a Caravela ship.
Effect 2: They were able to sail by the Canary Islands , making sailing around Africa easier.
Cause 4: Europeans tried to enslave the people on the islands to grow sugar.
The people on the island were introduced to European diseases and they died.
How smallpox was spread:
The smallpox virus was spread through blankets and other objects (that had been touched by an infected person) on the trade route. It spread during the 19th century by living in small villages, if one person had the virus and they coughed near you, you now have the virus. On May 8, 1980 declaring it eradicated WHO's states the world and all it's peoples have won freedom from smallpox. Smallpox was spread through the villages because they are so small and there was a lot of face to face contact
Cause 5: The Europeans were able to purchase slaves from west African traders.
Effect 5:They were able to produce sugar cane on plantations and were getting wealthy off of it.
Cause 6: Europeans brought crops from the New World back to the Old World like potatoes, tomatoes and squash
Effect 6: Europe was able to feed more people with calorie dense crops so population increased.
Cause 7: Europeans came to the new world and brought with them diseases like
Small Pox
-Influenza
-Malaria
Effect 7: People in the new world started to die of diseases. 1/3 of the population died after Columbus arrived.
Cause 8: The people that lived in the New World now lived close to animals
Effect 8: They got diseases such as the bird flu and swine flu.

Although Africa did not have that much money or food in the past they are intaking a lot more food. This will decrease the diseases such as tuberculosis but will increase the diseases relating to obesity, dental caries and heart diseases.

have the greatest availability of food, but the highest percentages of chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes.

The greater infrastructure and availability of food in an area greatly increase the risk of cardiovascular and food related diseases like obesity, but environmental diseases like malaria is lower.
Asia is a highly infected place when talking about their connection between food & disease. Their foods can contain infectious diseases like SALMONELLOSIS, STAPHYLOCOCCAL FOOD POISONING, BOTULISM, LISTERIOSIS and some others.
