Plate Tectonics
How?
Old near the continents. Young in the middle sediment.
Thick on the edge, thin in the middle. Magnetic stripes.
Polainty stripes on the ocean floor are a mirror image of each.
Earth is made of individual plates like a soccer ball.
This where all of the boundaries came together.

Boundaries
Divergent Boundary
Plates move away from each other
Only one place where new crust is formed
Convergent Boundary
The plates move towards each other
Oceanic crust is made of metals
Continental crust is made of silica
There are three types of convergent boundaries
Continental convergent boundary
These are the volcano makers
Oceanic convergent boudary
They are islands arcs
Transform Boundary
Two plates slide past each other
Earthquakes are formed from this
Tsunamis are also formed by this boudary
Volcanoes
Cinder core
Shield Volcano-Hawaii

Alfred Wegener
#
He was the person who had come up with the theory about continental drift.
He noticed that the continents used to fit like a jigsaw puzzle
He went to the different continents and found fossils, the fossils he also found on other continents. From what he found they had to of used to fit like a jigsaw puzzle.
He also found the ancient climates in the different places.
The geological units matched at the different places too.
Hot Spots
It's a spot where the core has made it really hot
Over time the core will make the boundaries push over the hot spot.
When the boundary goes over the hot spot volcanoes will start to form over that hot spot and the core will start to melt the rocks and it turns into magma.
