Reflection: The first time I heard about MOOC course was 2 years ago, but apparently they've been around much longer. It's interesting to me, but not surprising, that colleges don't promote these free courses to their students, staff, and faculty. I don't believe sharing information about these free open courses would deter students from continuing their formal education. If anything, these courses may help give them direction into what major or concentration they want to pursue, without wasting their efforts trying out courses and realizing they have no interest. Sure, colleges and universities would lose some profits, but the end product would be a college graduate who goes on to a promising professional career. And hopefully, that same student will give back to the university in the future. This may be wishful thinking. Nevertheless, the information should be readily available to college and university community.
