La Belle Dame sans Merci
La Belle Dame sans Merci gets men to fall in love with her and then abandons them. We do not know the story behind this, or her backstory, as the poem begins with the narrator meeting a man who has been left by her, but nothing before this.
The knight is entranced by La Belle Dame sans Merci, but should have known what she was like. It is clear that she has done this multiple times before and that men know what she is like, but are unable to prevent themselves from falling in love with her.
