Rising Sea Levels - Since 1900, the sea level has risen by 20cm. By 2100, sea levels are expected to continue to rise by another 26 - 28cm. As the sea level rises, coastal erosion increases. Coastal areas will become prone to damage from storm surges, freshwater supplies will become contaminated with the salty sea water, and important agricultural areas in places such as Bangladesh, India and Vietnam will be flooded.
