Experimental conditions
-
Field experiment
They are conducted in everyday real life conditions, the experimenter still manipulates the IV
More likely to reflect real life as its a natural setting (higher ecological validity than in a lab experiment)
-
-
Natural experiment
Conducted in real life settings, the experimenter has no control over the IV as it occurs naturally

Experiment terminology
-
Experimenter effects= These are the ways that the experimenter can accidentally influence the participant through their appearance or behavior
Demand characteristics= The way a person changes their behavior as they believe they know what the researcher is looking for
Independent variable= The variable the experimenter manipulates, directly effects the DV
-
Confounding variable= Variables that have affected the results (DV). It could be n extraneous variable that hasn't been controlled
Order effects= Changes in PPs performance due to them repeating the same or similar test more than once
Concurrent validity= Comparing a new test with another test of the same thing to see if they produce similar results
