Practising meritocracy
e.g. The Merit Bursary Scheme and Edusave Scholarship reward students who perform well in their studies and CCAs respectively to help them excel further in their education.
Why is it important?
by giving every Singaporean a fair chance to succeed.
This means meritocracy is a system that distribute opportunities to enable future successes.
People are rewarded according to the effort they put in rather than their race, religion, or social economic background.
Since everyone is aware that they are rewarded based on their abilities and effort, they are encouraged to work hard.
citizens: they have the fair chance to succeed, therefore they can support themselves and reach succesg through their efforts.
society: people work hard.....they are more productive in working toward the good of the society.

1.Good leadership
by making decisions based on the need of the society, even if that compromises the popularity.
Leaders with good leadership are incorruptible and have good moral character and will make decisions for the good of the society rather than for personal interests.
They are people the society can trust in making decisions for the interests of the society and the smooth running of the society.
e.g.2. Singapore is one of the least corrupt govn in the world. It was the fifth least corrupt nation in 2013.
e.g. ERP was introduced by SG govn in 1998 to regulate traffic congestion on the roads.
While this measure was largely unwelcomed by Singaporeans, road traffic has since decreased.
