management
-
carbon capture
new technology allows for 90% of carbon produced by fossil fuel factories to be contained, therefore preventing it from entering the atmosphere.
planting trees:
climate change is cause by an increasing amount of co2 in the atmosphere, as a result many initiatives have started that aim to increase the number of trees. The hope is by increasing trees the co2 in the atmosphere can be used by tree in photosynthesis.
international agreements
althought there is no legal contract forcing c#nations to reduce emission, at Copenhagen many developed countries showed interest in reducing emissions.
impacts
rising sea levels:
The average sea levels have risen by 20cm since 1900? By 2100 sea levels are expected to rise by a further 26-82cm. therefore increasing chances of flooding in low level countries.
As sea levels increase rates of coastal erosion will increase. Fresh water supplies will become contaminated by saltwater and coastal areas will be prone to damage from storm surges.
Managing rising sea levels in the Maldives:
The Maldives are a group of tiny islands in the Indian ocean, some 500k south west of India. The highest point on the islands is just 2.4m.
farming/agriculture:
agriculture:
adaptations in low latitudes- Southern Africa's maize crop could fall by 30% by 2030 and the production of rice in south Asia could could fall by by 10%.
agriculture adaptions in low latitudes- A warmer climate in Europe and north America could lead to increase in production of certain crops such as wheat. In the UK, medatarian crops may such as vines and olives may thrive.
Managing Water Supply:
Climate change is already causing more severe and more frequent droughts and floods. Unreliable rainfall and periods of water shortages require careful management. Future climate change will affect the current patterns of water water supply , impacting on the quality of our water. Most vulnerable in poorer countries.
Managing water supply in the Himalayas:
Millions of people in Asia depends on the rivers fed by snow and glacial melt for their domestic and agricultural water supply. In the Himalayas most of the 16000 glaciers are receding rapidly due to global warming, this threatens the long term security of water supply in the region.
Evidence
Recent Evidence
Glaciers: Throughout the world they are shrinking. By 1935 many of them would have disappeared. Arctic sea ice has also thinned by 65% between 1975 and 2014.
Sea Level: The average global sea level has risen between 10 and 20cm in the past 100 years. This is because the temperatures rise and the freshwater ice melts, more water flows to the seas from these areas. Lastly, the ocean water expands in volume when warm- this is called thermal expansion
Seasons: studies have suggested that the timing of natural seasonal activities such as tree flowering and bird migration is advancing

Ice Cores: used to reconstruct temperature patterns from as long as 400,000 years ago

causes
human
CO2 accounts for an estimated 60 % of the human causes of enhancing greenhouse gases. one way that co2 causes climate change is by car exhausts as the fuel in cars releases a lot of co2 into the air which then starts to pollute it. burning fossil fuels also causes climate change as when crude oil has gone through the fractional distillation one of the combustion products is co2. deforestation also one of the reasons that co2 because when trees are cut down it dosnt absorb the co2 anymore.
methane is a green house which very good for absorbing heat it accounts for 20% of greenhouse effect. it is caused by burning biomass as it has a high content of water which means more methane will be produced. farm livestock also releases methane because it is produced in the guts of some farm animals this is a very high income of methane. another producer of methane is decaying organic matter because it gets generated and decomposed by soil waste so they produce the methane microbes onto organic matter like cabbages.
nitrous oxides is a very small percentage of the earths atmosphere, however it absorbs heat 300 times better then CO2 four ways we get this into atmosphere is by agricultural fertilizers , car exhausts , power stations making electricity and sewage treatment. We get nitrous oxide from agrugulctural fertilisers because the bacteria in soil take advantage of having nitrogen being put straight into the soil so uses some for th.e energy they need to grow ,however the process of this releases nitrous oxide into the atmosphere. Nitrous oxide is released from the heat and pressure of the car s engine. Power stations realises nitrous oxide as when the nitrogen is released from the power station it gets oxides.
Natural
Change in earth orbit effects the cause of the climit because.of three main reasons eccentricity ,axial tilt and precision . Eccentricity as this is the path that the earth orbits the sun, however this is not fixed so this shows you that the different among of distance from the earth to the sun depends on how hot or cold it is. Axial tilt causes day and night because the earth is always on qa tilt at about 23.5 degrees , however over many of years the tilt has gone back and forth between 21.5 and 24.5 degrees angle which suggests. That the day and night may become longer or shorter in different countries. Precisision which means it has a natural wobble like a spin top which suggests that they may also get longer days or nights in certian places I.e Norway.
Solar activity also helps change the climit because the sun gets sunspots which is when the sun has dark patches on the surface. When the sunspots at at the maxim, the sun is realising more energy which means it is hotter so the sun gives of more explosions ,however when it's at its minimum it means that gets colder and longer winters.
Volcanic activity also is involved with climate change because volcanos explode loads of ash and gases which can block the sun which means the earth will get cooler and darker, however this only for a short period of time.
