Advantages
Bookcases
- Books can be locked away and safely secured
- Can be used as a decorative feature within the home
- Can be dusted and wiped efficiently
- Has a range of levels allowing for multiple books to be stored which is an advantage over book shelves which tend to hold less
Cupboards
- Books can be hidden and stored away
- Books are less susceptible to gathering dust
- Can be fixed on walls are at ground level
- The doors of the cupboard can be easily wiped down.

- Can be fixed to any wall at any height
- Easy to display books
- Can be wiped clean and dusted easily
Types of Storage
Cupboards
Deep sections of furniture found in multiple rooms around the house, allowing for numerous booms to be stored away - suitable for those of large stanza such as children's board books or large story books.
Bookcases
Wooden structures that can be found primarily in home offices to store a large range of books on numerous shelves that potentially can be easily closed when not in use to protect and secure books.
Book Shelves
Primarily wooden or steal framed shelves, that can be fixed to a wall in a variety of places around the home.
Disadvantages
Bookcases
- May not be suitable for households with young children who may crawl into the open swung doors
- May take up too much space in small rooms
- Can be quite expensive to buy and time consuming to install from flat pack
Cupboards
- Not efficient at low levels for people outside the 5th and 95th percentile
- Cupboard handles may not be suitable for the arthritic
- Not efficient at high levels for users who are small in stature or are young.
Book Shelves
- Wood can bow in the middle if the books are too heavy
- Can be easily knocked by household members
- May have sharp corners that might be a danger hazard to younger users
- May be difficult to install for those who are less able

- Be adaptable or come in a range of sizes for different sized rooms

- Have handles suitable for those who are arthritic - perhaps using polymorph
- Have rounded corners to eliminate danger hazards for those families with young children

- To be strong and durable for a range of users
- Needs to have numerous shelves incorporated within it so that it can be efficient in storing books, especially for those who have small houses or are tight with space
