Type 2 diabetes and its complications have reached epidemic proportions in some Caribbean countries like Trinidad & Tobago and are forecasted to get worse. This has dire implications not just for individual families which must find the resources to deal with a loved one who has gone blind, had a leg amputated, or is in need of dialysis, but also for the wealth of the countries, because of the burdening costes in the long run. Which will over time also handicap thae nations if the epidemic keeps increasing at a fast rate as many of the ill: will become dependent on insulin injections ,are more easy to become fatigue and other diabetic related complications reducing overall productivity. This epidemic is partly blamed on ignorance of people about treating and preventing diabetes, and the raise in obesity and diets containing high starch content.
