Executive agreement - an executive agreement is an agreement entered into between a foreign government and the executive branch of the United States. Although the agreement binds the United States with as much force as a treaty, it is not as formal as a treaty and does not require Senate approval
Whig theory - a theory that prevailed in the nineteenth century and held that the president was a limited or restrained office whose occupant was confined to expressly granted constitutional authority
Stewardship theory - a theory that argues for a strong, assertive presidential role, with presidential authority limited only at points specifically prohibited by law
Presidential Approval Rating A measure of the degree to which the public approves or disapproves of the presidents performance in office.

The powers are written within the Constitution, Article ll. Some powers include:
l. Serve as commander in chief of the armed forces

lll. Grant reprieves and pardons for federal offenses (except impeachment)

lllll. Receive ambassadors
2. What are the qualifications for being President? (Use an online Constitution.) Age: 35 Natural born citizen, live in the U.S. for at least 14 years.
3. Why has the presidency become a more powerful office over time? 1. One person has great power, easier for president to get media attention 2. President is nationally elected 3. Increased policy responsibility, bigger bureaucracy 4. Increase foreign policy scope 5. The presidency has become more powerful over time because as new issues presented themselves the U.S. needed a more powerful leader to guide the country.
1. Why do the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary have more influence than two small states normally would in choosing presidential nominees?
They are the first states that really matter if a candidate doesn’t do well in these two they most likely drop out because they are important.
2. Explain (review) the Electoral College. 1. Number of senators + numbers of representatives = the number of electors for that state 2. The winner of the majority vote does not always win. Electors could change their minds of who to vote for 3. If neither candidate gets the majority vote then the House of Representatives decides who becomes the President.

White House Office - A submit of the executive office of the president, the white house office is the core of the presidential staff system in that it indicates the presidents closest and most trusted personal advisors.
Cabinet - A group consisting of the heads of the executive departments, who are appointed by the president.
