Reuse + Recycle Station
This station will be for students to rummage through and reuse past excess materials and old projects to repurpose them for new ones! Not only will it help eliminate waste, but it will teach student show to be resourceful!
3D Printing + Computer Station
Students will have full access to both desktops and laptops loaded with graphic design software as well as instructional tutorials and learning aids about how to make things online and with the 3D printer available at the station! There will also be drawing tablets and templates available!
Additional Features about the Space
The Design Studio will also have a fully stocked library with nonfiction books about everything from building, interior and exterior design, graphic design, music, art and so much more! Also the studio will have cubby storage on every available wall so students can store things they are working on together and not have to worry about things getting stepped on, etc.
Printing Press Station
At this station, students will be able to write, print, illustrate, and bind their own books and short stories! They can then catalog them and put them into the Maker Space library, or take them with them for other purposes!
Idea Wall
This is a space for students to communicate without having to talk face to face, which I think can be helpful sometimes! Think of this space as kind of like the classifieds section of a newspaper - students can post ideas or "wanted" ads to invite other students to collaborate with them, brainstorm, etc.
Space Philosophy
I think that the most important thing that I want to enstill into my students is that their ideas are valid, no matter what they are, or how they want to go about carrying them out. I want my students to make sure that they know their work is appreciated, and their creativity and induvidual minds are priceless and extremely valued.
