Background
Born in England, in April 1564.
3rd of 8 children, from a middle-class family.
The places where he grew up, are now tourist attractions.
At 18, he married Anne Hathaway, who was 8 years older than him.
Their first child was born less than 6 months after their marriage.
In 1585, they had twins - Hamlet and Judath. Hamlet died at the age of 11.
Died on 23rd April 1616.
There's almost no reference to him between 1985 - 1592. (The lost years)
He started working for Lord Chamberlain's Men in 1594.
An acting company that performed repertoire of shows regularly. In 1603, changed their name to King's men and were sponsored by King James I.
Began writing plays later in his life.
Became a part-owner of the Globe Theatre.
Wrote at least 37 plays.
