Role of management
The managers have all responsibility, organize their resources, coordinate, they make decisions and control the day to day running of the organization to ensure the objectives of the business are met.
Flat Structure
In a flat structure, managers are in charge of many employees. This requires thorough training.
Tall Structure
In a tall structure people are only in charge of a few employees. However there are many layers in the business.
The span of control is to show the number of individuals or subordinates that are under the control of one manager
Delegation
The manager is still in charge and needs to make sure the task is done.
Delegation is when a manager gives responsibility to a subordinate to complete a task.
Trade Unions
Trade unions are groups of workers that represent the interests of employees within a workplace.
The trade union exists to get better deals for workers.
They are a completely separate organization to the business that they work for.
Chain of command
Communication within a business.
Tasks are given from the top of the hierarchy and are completed by those at the bottom
Feedback is also goven from those responsible at the bottom
Departments
Sections and branches of a business.
