The Prophecy
During the war, a prophecy was going around that told of a young maiden who lived a simple life on a farm, and would rise up and lead the French to victory. Some people were skeptical of this, but the prophecy eventually came true when in 1425 a maiden whose name was Joan, claimed to have seen angels appear before her who told her to drive out the English and bring Dauphin to Reims for his coronation.
Death
On May 23rd, 1430, Joan was captured by the Burgundian Faction and later given to the English. She was soon after put on trial and charged for multiple cases, including using devil magic to aid her in battle. After found guilty, she was burned at the stake at the age of 19 on May 30th, 1431.
Devil Magic
As Joan led the French to battle and helped them defeat the English, The English saw Joan's power to defeat them as a sign that she was possessed by the Devil, and ignored Joans claims of God aiding her in battle, as they believed that God was on their side. This led to Joan being accused of witchcraft when she was captured and put on trial.
