        Fuses
        e.g.: 5 Amp fuse only allows currents up to 5 amps,
        since it then melts and stops the flow of electricity,
        which can often prevent fires
        
        Earth wires:
        If there is a fault, so that an exposed metal part is then live, the earth wire, which is also connected to the exposed metal part, lets the current flow through itself with its low resistance, enabling there to be a massive current, letting the fuse melt and defusing the situation
