Anti-Semitism
Anti-Semitism was huge in Nazi Germany, and it was one of the reasons Hitler gained so much power and popularity. After the devastating effects of WWI destroyed Germany’s economy and reputation, the people needed a scapegoat, and Hitler gave them one. He told them the Jews were to blame, and everyone followed his lead. At first, the worst the Nazi Party would do would be to harass the Jews at their places of business or their homes. Then, Jews had to be publicly identified. They would then get harmed in streets for no reason, and then they were sent to concentration camps, where almost everyone died. They were tortured and killed in horrible ways that many people today can’t even imagine.
