Consider the Issues
When creating your design, you want to make sure that your design is able to resolve the issue. E.G. I need to make a sneakerbox because my cardboard sneaker box that came with the shoe is not waterproof and is all torn up.
Meeting outcome - It is important to make sure that your design meets its intentional outcome. That should be the main priority with maybe some additional features. Don't focus on the quantity of additional features of your design. Make sure it resolves the issue that has been addressed.
-
Properties - Make sure that your construction is able to meet it's outcome, with certain properties that would most logically be required to go with this design. I.E. Sneakerbox - Needs to be lightweight as it needs to be able to be stacked, and movable.
Ergonomics - Make sure that your design has been ergonomically designed to make it easier for you to use. This will make everything more comfortable for yourself to use.
Make sure to take strength of design into consideration. It would not help creating a very functional and aesthetically pleasing design if it is not durable.
-
Innovation - If you would want to do innovation, then make sure that it is able to have some attributes that are convenient. I.E. Design 1: Has an extra shelf that can be used and will go behind the front shelf which saves space when not opened.
