T.1 Living things
-
The origin of life:
The oldest remain of life is 3 600 million years.
There are two main theories of the origin.
Chemical evolution theory:
Say the life on earth started from certain chemical elements that organise themselves into smaller molecules that evolved until it formed simple unicellular organisms.
Exogenesis theory:
This theory suggest that life on earth came about because of a comet that crashed into earth.

Cells:
Are the join biomolecules, and is the smallest thing that can be considered as a living thing. And they can perform the 3 main vital functions. There are 2 categories:
-Unicellular: An organism of one single cell
-Multicellular: An organism of more than one cell
The discover of cells:
In 1665, Robert Hooke described a cell, and in 1838, Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann formulated the cell theory .
Cell structure:
A cell has 3 main parts, the plasma membrane, the cytoplasm and the nucleic acid
