Uber Will Start Using Driverless Cars
1. Which stakeholders will be affected by this?
Competitors
This Driverless car idea is not one that can be easily replicated. Uber has alot of support, it probably wouldn't be for a very good while that someone else could imitate it.
Customers
Customers will be able to communicate with each other in private as opposed to being in front of somebody.
Chances are wait times will be more accurate.
Customers can play their own music.
If there is some sort of error, the customer will have no idea what to do.
Employees
Drivers
Why?
Uber's service is essentially a cheaper taxi service which is more convenient. Someone is being driven by someone else in exchange for money. If Uber can get rid of the factor of someone having to be able to drive, there will be no need for a driver.
The Higher ups
Upper level management will not have to worry about sharing profit with the drivers. All profit will go directly to Uber.
There have been some scary stories about bad uber drivers. A non-existent driver cannot reflect poorly upon the company.
The self driving cars might have an error, there are a lot of possible things that could happen that could reflect poorly upon Uber.
Suppliers
Uber is planning to replace one-million drivers with these things. That's alot of supplies and resources.
Google will receive profit from incorporating their software.
2. Potential Business Opportunities
Rental Service
Uber could rent out their cars.
Cross-country trips
Businesses could use these to pick up clients or send out employees.
Transporting cargo and supplies
Delivery
This idea is essential for getting something from point a to point b.
Food
These could be available at the airport, for those with no transportation.
Although this isn't morally noble, drug dealers could use this as a way to avoid some risk. I'm sure these vehicles will always be driving the speed limit and will not be swerving as everything will be allocated correctly. They're less likely to get pulled over.
3. What is Divergent Thinking?
Divergent thinking is the action of thinking in a more outward manner, rather than direct. Divergent thinking involves considering all aspects and factors of a certain idea, rather than focusing on a single one of those factors.
What procedure did you use to come up with the new business possibilities?
Using this Mind Map, I was able to dwell into the different potential business opportunities based on how the driverless car will affect potential stakeholders
4. The Role and Process of Convergent Thinking into taking the next step.
Convergent Thinking involves a more direct way of thinking, as apposed to a more open, flexible, and creative one. It involves identifying the facts, and applying convergent thinking to choose the most appropriate and beneficial solution.
Incorporating both Divergent Thinking and Convergent Thinking, you can become a great problem solver. An Entrepreneur requires the ability to use both of these skills, and if these skills are trained correctly can lead to a great Entrepreneur.
