ANATOMY OF THE HEART
-
CHAMBERS
-
-
RIGHT ATRIUM
Cavity that is above the right ventricle, blood from superior/inferior vena cava dump here
-
-
-
MUSCLE/TENDON
-
FOSSA OVALIS
lies on the inside of the right atrium, t is an embryonic remnant of the foramen ovale, which normally closes shortly after birth.
MYOCARDIUM
makes the heart pump, muscle surrounding the inner aspects of the heart
PAPILLARY MUSCLE
muscle that runs along the inside of the left atrium, regulates the action of valves
-
-
-
SA NODE
On the bottom of the right atrium, adjacent to the entrance of the superior vena cava, cells here initiate the heartbeat and is called as the pacemaker of the heart.
AV NODE
At the floor of the right atrium, between opening for the coronary sinus
AV BUNDLE
specialized muscle fibers regulating the heartbeat by conducting impulses from the right atrium to the ventricles
BUNDLE BRANCHES
extends from AV node into/through the septum, divides into the left/right bundles
PURKINJE FIBERS
extend from left/right bundles, begin at the apex of heart and continue through the walls of the ventricles
-
-
ELECTRICAL CONDUCTION
-
-
-
from the SA node it is sent to the AV node, its slowed down here
THE CARDIAC CYCLE
ECG
P
Atrial Depolarization
Starts in the SA node, lasts between 0.08 to 0.1 seconds
