Weather Variables
-
Relative Humidity
The amount of water vapor present in the air compared to the maximum amount of water vapor the air could contain at that temperature. It is measured with psychrometers.
Wind
Wind is created when air moves from areas of high pressure to areas of low pressure. It is measured with anemometers.
-
Air Pressure
The force that a column of air applies on the air or a surface below. It is measured with barometers and decreases with altitude.
Clouds and Fog
A clouds are formed by warm air containing water vapor cooling until reaching it's dew point. There are different types of clouds.A cloud near the surface is a fog.
Air Temperature
Average kinetic energy of molecules in the air.It varies and warm molecules are faster than cold ones.
Precipitation
Water,in liquid or solid form, that falls from the atmosphere. The types of precipitation are Rain,Snow,Hail and Sleet.
Meteorologists use several specific that describe atmospheric conditions. They're air temperature, air pressure, wind speed and direction, humidity, cloud coverage and precipitation
The Water Cycle
Series of natural processes by which water continually moves among oceans, land and the atmosphere.
