The Crash of 1929 happened after the Great War. There was an economic boom and many people invested in stocks.Then, on Black Thursday, as the world economy slowed, many people frantically sold their stocks causing prices to plummet.
American economic contraction: There was a decrease in business activity, wages, and employment.There were also cutbacks in production, which caused layoffs because there was less demand for products. This caused the national income to be cut in half and the United States relied on exports of manufactured goods.
