After the Red party took over, they took party in a "hasty and unplanned" form of Nationalism, which became known as war communism. They annulled private property, taking control of all banks and holdings, monasteries and churches also become national property, and money was completely banned, leaving only the property of poor peasants exempt from the confiscation. This plan backfired, and eventually Lenin reversed War Communism.
