One disadvantage of the railroad was the amount of land that was being destroyed and taken from the Native Americans. In addition, buffalo hunted by Native Americans had to be killed in order to remove them and get the land. Therefore, the Native Americans didn't have food,land,not fur. Furthermore, the trains caused a lot pollution that was harmful to the environment.
