Climate
In the Savanna, the temperature ranges from 20°c and 30°c year round. The average precipitation is between 15 and 20 inches.
There are two seasons in the Savanna , the dry season and the wet season. The dry seasons goes from November to May and there is only an average of 4 inches of rainfall. The wet season starts in May and ends in October, during these months there is an average of 15 - 25 inches of rain.
The savanna is a very warm biome and is considered to have a tropical climate. The warmest months are from June to September. The coldest months are from December to April.
Location
Savannas are located all over the world in Africa, Australia, India and South America and cover close to 20% of the world. Some cites in the Savanna include Kenya, Belize and Venezuela.
The African Savanna is found between latitude 15° north and 30° south and longitude 15° west and 40° west.
Indicator plant
The grasses in the savanna are the major indicator plant. The grass has the ability to identify grassland degradation. Grasses are a very key indicator species as they are a sign of possible problems in the ecosystem.
Indicator animal
Birds, such as the Lilac Breasted Roller Bird, are indicator animals. They are indicators of the air quality because of their delicate respiratory system. These birds can be the first animal affected by environmental changes.
