Perf CAP (Additional Take Off Techniques - Ch20 (Contaminated Runways
…
Perf CAP
-
The initial T/O Climb - Ch21
- Initial T/O climb starts 35ft and ends at 1500ft
Noise Abatement
- Capt's discretion & not if there's a set departure proc.
- Inadvisable if:
- Contamindated rwy
- Viz < 1.9km(1nm)
- XWC incl. gusts > 15kt
- TWC incl. gusts >5kt
- W/S reported or f/cast
- T/S
- Engine fail
Noise Abatement Departure Procedure 1 (NADP 1) = CREEP AWAY
- Noise sensitive area close
- At T/O: TOGA > V2+10kt at screen height
- At 800ft: Thrust⬇️, TO flaps still, speed constant V2+10kt ∴Excess thrust used to climb
- At 3000ft: AoC ⬇️, Flaps retracted, accelerate and climb as per schedule
Noise Abatement Departure Procedure 2 (NADP 2) = CLIMB QUICK!!
- Noise sensitive area far
- At T/O: TOGA > V2+10kt at screen height
- At 800ft: Accelerate to VZF & +ve RoC & reduce flaps
- At 3000ft: Accelerate and climb as per schedule
Engine-out Initial Flight Path
- NTOFP Class A assumes EF at V1
- NTOFP begins at REFERENCE ZERO i.e. screen height
- LEARN 1st to 4th segment!!!! Table Min Eng % are GROSS!
- 2nd seg. = min height 400ft
- 3rd seg. = no climb, EXCESS T. used to accelerate
- 4th seg. = 1500ft (min safe level)
-
Obstacle Clearance and Departure Sector
- All obstacles must be cleared by 35ft (screen height)
- OR By a horizontal distance of at least 90 m
- Half Width = 60 + WingSpan/2 + Dist/8
- 60 + WingSpan/2 is MAX 90m
- Total Half Width limits < 15deg (300VMC/600IMC), > 15deg (600VMC/900IMC)
- Turns
- Not started below 50 ft, or WS/2, whichever greater
- AoB max = 15deg below 400ft
- Above 400ft, Class A may not exceed 25deg AoB
MRJT - Ch19
PLTOM
- Lowest of RLTOM, CLTOM, Tyre LTOM, OLTOM
- RLTOM ⬆️ with ⬆ in flaps
- CLTOM ⬇️ with ⬆ in flaps
- For RLTOM/CLTOM and flaps, apply any wind to RLTOM, then choose lowest for each flap. Finally choose highest of the chosen
Wind doesn't affect CLTOM
TO V speeds
- V1⬇️ with downslope or tailwind because you need more time and distance to break!
- V1⬆️ with headwind or upslope to ensure that the point on the runway is the same.
- IN PERF A +VE WIND IS A HEADWIND!!!!
.
- V1 <= VMCG!!!
The effect of early or late rotation = ⬆️TOR & TOD
- Too early = ⬆️ induced drag ∴ extra ground roll
- Too late = and TOR and TOD are extended
- Also rotation must be at the correct rate - too slow or too quick can change TOD and TOR
