Students With Special Need
The Process
Student is presented before SAP team to brainstorm and begin to develop an Individualized Education Plan
Strategies are presented to student's family and administrative staff to become agreed upon
School counselor will meet with student to determine if additional services are needed
Teachers and other staff will begin to implement the IEP in each of the student's classes
Teacher presents students name and evidence to school counselor
Detection
Student may demonstrate signs of lack of interest in subject area
Student may begin to display disruptive behavior in the school
Student may show signs of a struggling or low grade in one or more subject areas
Student may become violent
Monitoring The Process
Progress Reports from subject teachers
Completed every three weeks
Continually reviewed to give the ability for IEP to be adjusted to meet students needs
Presented at SAP meetings and used as a benchmark for success
Reflections from Spec Ed Teacher
Spec Ed Teacher must complete weekly reflections and students progress
Reflections are shared during SAP meetings to show continued monitoring of progess
These reflections are also made available to Students families so information is shared to all parties involved
Teaching Accommadations
Develop different assessment tools that allows student to display understanding of material
Use of technology a lot spec ed students connect better when they feel they have the direct instruction technology can provide
Adhere to the guidelines of the IEP don't deviate
Personal tutoring
Set personal goals for student that allow them to see success in order to build confidence
