Capitalism vs Socialism
-
ideologies of capitalism
religion is used as a means of enforcement rather than for attainment of personal growth and happiness
people who have a lot of money are seen as "deserving" of that money, meaning the working class believes that that are less than those who do not have to work for a living.
social caste system exists, though social mobility is possible, the top 1% shows such a large wealth divide that it becomes increasingly impossible to reach higher status.
capital gain becomes the only purpose of individuals, diminishing any meaning behind social interaction and creating an intensive social ladder.
ideologies of socialism
people are more focused on individual achievement and satisfaction, as they have no ideological influence to climb the social ladder and accumulate personal capital.
personal satisfaction does not rely on capital accumulation, there is no system of social dominance in place.
-
personal interaction is not all based on accumulation of capital and desire to climb the social ladder.
people may believe that they are working for nothing, as social mobility is impossible for truly egalitarian societies.
decreased motive to contribute, less desire to work, less productive economy.
-
positives of capitalism
a very productive economy is created, due to the way in which individuals are taught to work and succeed.
-
personal achievement, though measured in capital, is attainable and promoted through ideology, meaning people will always attempt some level of self-achievement and satisfaction.
social mobility is possible, creating a hopefulness about climbing to the top and reaching fulfillment.
positives of socialism
a less manipulative ideology based on the fact that people are not being forced to work in order to achieve someone else's desire of wealth accumulation.
personal achievement is not measured in monetary value. people can work to reach their own fulfillment, not that of an ideology implemented by an overarching system.
corporations are not able to become manipulative of consumers, as government regulation and intervention will protect this from occuring.
