Church Principals
-
Lutheran Church of Hope
-
Lost people matter to God, so they matter to us
We must reach out and seek those who want to come to know Jesus. We know that God has a plan for each and every one of His children, so we must take them in and teach them what God is going to do with their life.
we worship God, not tradition
Instead of tradition building a wall between us and God, us as a church want to tear it down. We live in a changing world, and where the gospel itself does not change, we must change how we proclaim it to reach and and every individual.
-
we are one body, united in Jesus Christ
every church is compiled of individuals but we are called by God to live together in unity. We should seek to build each other up, love and cry together, for as a whole we can be more effective to the world around us.
Similarities
Both Acts and my church both make Christ the center of the teachings, and make Jesus's teachings the only teachings that we follow and believe.
Both Acts and my church agree on the fact that we live in a changing world and sometimes we will have to change how we witness. Although the gospel itself does not change, in order to reach as many people as possible and bring them to Christ we must match the personality of those we are preaching to.
Acts and my church share the same principle that your faith journey never end. Your faith is a growing experience and we need to continually study scripture in order to keep growing in our relationship with God.
Differences
Where Acts puts a lot of emphasis on choosing elders for the church, my church doesn't use the term elders, but instead has leaders and pastors that you can go to and they can direct you back to God.
The evidence from Acts and evidence from my church are all very similar. It is incredibly hard to find differences between the two, one thing Acts really emphasizes on is how we can not give into persecution, where it is not mentioned as much throughout my church's core values.
One of the differences is that, we express and use new technologies that are different in churches now than they were then. We have more ways of reaching people through new technologies, and even though the message itself does not change we have changed how we witness to others.
