The North
The North consists of the wealthy countries of the world, such as those in North America and Europe.
It contains only one-fifth of the world's people, but uses 86% of the worlds wealth
The South
The south consists of the poor countries of the world, such as those in Africa and South America.
Almost 80% of our human family live in the South, yet the South uses only 14% of the world's wealth
The south is sometimes referred to as the Third World or the Majority World
Child Mortality - North and South
The term refers to the number of young children who die each year in relation to every 1000 live births in that same year
Why more children Die in Third World Countries
Most people in the Third World live in poverty
Many people in the South do not have supplies of clean water because of this children die from sickness
Children suffer from malnutrition because they do not enjoy properly balanced diets
Preventative medicine is to expensive for most Third World people
Life expectancy - North and South
People in the Northern countries generally live longer than people in thee Southern countries
Why life expectancy is longer in the North than in the South
