Push/Pull Factors

Push factors
:red_cross:
Mongolian invaders
: China was constantly being attacked by Mongolian hordes, so much so that they built a great wall just to attempt to keep them out.
Constant weapons
: China was always inventing new things that could improve people lives, but on the flip side they were also always inventing new weapons that could kill people if in the wrongs hands.
Harsh Rulers
: While some could be fair, others led many Chinese citizens to die. For example, Emperor Qin Shi Huang forced many Chinese citizens to work on the wall that he hoped would keep the Mongolian invaders out. This caused many of them to die on what is known as the worlds longest graveyard.
Pull factors
:check:
Tea
: Tea was one of the most popular trading items in the world at the time, with China being the creator and main producer of it. If you lived in China you would have the privilege of regularly drinking tea with certain foods.
Inventions
: China invented many things that could be used for celebration or everyday life. They helped to contribute to printing, positive use of gunpowder, and many other things.
Religion
: China had many religions that were widely spread across the land. If you were in this religion then you were accepted and welcomed(Taoism for example was very popular).
Big Idea
: One thing that we can learn from China is that no civilization is perfect. Emperor Qin Shi Huang killed massive amounts of Chinese citizens just for a wall to keep out Mongolian invaders. We now sometimes call this wall the worlds longest graveyard as it has tons of bodies inside of it. We now see that this wall did not even work very well and the Mongols invaded anyway. We now know that no matter how many sacrifices you make and no matter how long you spend on something, it will not always work.
Big Idea Conclusion
: We can conclude from China that inventions spread. China created many things that became popular(not the least of which being tea) and spread across the world. A more obscure but still good example of this would the wood block printer which we now see evolved into electronic printers that can print tons of copies at the same time. To conclude, while it may not have been(and still isn't) perfect, China definitely left their mark in history as a great/flawed society.
Connections/Contributions
Connections
: I can connect to world due to them helping to create gunpowder which led to guns. Guns is one of the most used weapon in modern society as we fight wars with them and hunt with them. I can also make a text to self because I have learned about the Dalai Lama and he is currently trying to save Tibet from China's grip on the land and its people.
Contributions
Tea
: China has created the second most consumed drink in the world. Tea is used for healing and just for relaxation overall. This is an enormous contribution as it is part of many cultures and is overall very impressive.
Religion
: China contributed a religion known as Taoism which is one of the most widely used religions in China, along with Buddhism. These religions are widely used and overall a great contribution.
Wood Block print
: In the early days of printing there was not much you could do in the ways of copying things on paper to other paper other than to do it by hand. With this invention you could make copies of something that you wanted to make copies of much faster. This helped to create the electric printer which is a great tool.
Hand Fans
: Hand fans are not as popular but did help to contribute to ventilation systems and inspired people to make the modern day electric fan.
Fireworks
: China created a very widely used tool for celebrations. This was a more peaceful use of the gunpowder they had created to use in wars.
