Performance
Definition-a form of testing that requires the students to perform a task rather than just selecting an answer.
Example: Group Projects, presentations

Diagnostic
Definition-a diagnostic assessment allows the teacher to assess the students strengths, weaknesses, and the knowledge of the content being taught.
Example: pretest, previous school assessments
Formative
Definition- formative assessment can be formal or informal and it assesses the teacher's presentation of the content based off of the students learning. The teacher takes the results and modifies her teaching as needed.
Example: midterm exam, final project
Summative
Definition-a summative assessment is used to evaluate a student understanding and learning at the end of a unit. This form of assessment is a high stake one.
Example: End of Course Exams, District Assessments
Benchmark
Definition- teachers use this assessment to evaluate where the students are currently in there learning and to see if they are performing well, at grade level, etc.
Example: STAAR, standardized tests
