What is light?
Light is energy that looks like it travels in a straight line but it actually travels in waves.
Light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
Light does not have volume or mass so it is not matter.
How do we see
Retina is connected to your nerves to the brain.
Light, eyes, brain, and an object.
Iris is the colored part of your eye.
Diseases that Affects Eyes
Blurry vision is called astigmatism.
Diabetes affects the eyes to create a fogginess that is called glaucoma. It is a white film around the eye.

Mach Band illusion is when two colors together make a darker color. Used in x-rays.
Eye and hand illusion works because the brain wants to focus on one object.
It works by having the brain fill in missing spaces.
If hold glasses together and one at 90 degrees the image goes dark.
Sunglasses make the unpolarized light to polarized.
Illegal for pilots to wear while flying because it darkens the polarized monitors.
What can light do?
Light can reflect which means bounce.
Light can scatter off of paper because paper has tiny bumps.
Light can bend (refraction), it is trying to go through an object.
Concave and Convex Lenses
Concave lenses are bent inward and convex are outward.
Convex lenses are more clear and concave are blurry.
Concave and convex lenses are used for mirrors, telescopes, and microscopes.
