In this study, the research approach used is the Glaserian GT method (Glaser, 1978, 1992, 1998), and it is used as both the method of data analysis, and as the technique for theory building. This paper focuses on one core category of our study, Project power. GT is applicable to largely uninvestigated fields with little existing theory (Orlikowski, 1993). In this case, GT was seen as very useful because it enabled a broad exploration into the everyday experience of an IOIS project. There is little existing theory on IOISs and their implementation, and we were particularly interested in the day-to-day experi- ence of the IOIS project member.
