Interim/Benchmark
Defintion : This assessment is where one can see where students are with their learning and if they are on track to meeting goals based on standards that have been set.
Example 1: Students taking District Assessments at the end of the six weeks and uploading their scores and data.
Example 2: Students taking MAP test during the different interim periods assigned. For example, beginning, middle , and end of the year.
Performance
Definition: This is where students apply the knowledge they have been taught to create an assignment instead of just answering questions on a paper.
Example 2: Prepare an oral presentation where you will read a poem and then talk about what you think the author's purpose and the meaning would be.
Example 1: Create a research project on Google Slides over one of the branches of government. See the assignment in classroom for instructions. .
Diagnostic
Definition : This assessment happens before the topic is taught. It allows the teacher to see where the student's schema is. This includes strengths, weakness, and level of prior knowledge.
Example 1: Doing running records with students in order to determine reading levels .

Summative
Defintion: This is a more formal assessment. Generally done at the end of the topic to see what the students mastered throughout the unit.
Example 1: Create a portfolio based on all the questions you have been given during this unit and add the ones given to you today.
Example 2: Students taking the STAAR test each year.
Formative
Example 2: On the sticky note answer the question, "What part of this topic is still confusing to you?"
Example 1: Turn and Talk to your shoulder partner and answer the question, "What was the main idea of the story?"
Definition: This type of assessment is more like a quick check for learning. The teacher can use these to see where students are at in their understanding.
