Concerns
Can cause allergies
The fact that labels aren't required on GMOs right now means that those with allergies may suffer severely from whatever plant has been altered by an allergen.
Rebuttal: The fact that labels aren't required on GMOs may be bad, but the label of 'GMO' makes it so that the seller or farmer makes less money, since GMOs have an all-around bad connotation.
-
Can cause more obesity
GMO wheat has gliadin in increased amounts. The gliadin reacts with the mind, which causes us to have an increased appetite.
“we’d consume 440 more calories per day. Davis claims clinical studies show this happening to hundreds of thousands of people. He suggests totally avoiding wheat” (GMO Pros and Cons).

Benefits
-
Easily Changeable
The GMOs can easily be changed, either to keep up with more advanced diseases or to topple things like superbugs that could kill plants with the old Monsanto chemicals.
“One advantage of using genetic engineering to help crops adapt to these sudden changes is that new varieties can be created quickly” (MIT Tech Review).

Claim: GMOs are better than organic foods because they can be grown faster and more easily while delivering the same amount or more nutrients, which could assist countries with inhabitants suffering from malnutrition or starvation.
Evidence: "Genetically modified foods could be helpful in feeding the hungry. They could help poor countries produce more food" (Should the US Support...). The food can be infused with genes from quicker-growing plants, more robust plants, and more nutritious plants, allowing the food to taste and look better while simultaneously growing faster. Also, GMOs are critically inspected by health officials for years before release.
COUNTER CLAIM (Andrew V): Even though GMOs are safe, GMOs may still be exposed to harmful chemicals, and because they are immune, you may just eat one that isn't washed. Also, because GMO's can become a hot topic you might need to mass produce them, and then you'll have quantity over quality and that is not good for people who eat them.
Counter-Argument: The majority of the people I know wash fruits and vegetables no matter whether they are GMO or not, because they could have external pesticides that you need to wash off. Also, I would like a quote that explicitly states that GMOs are quantity over quality and not both. Thank you.
COUNTER COUNTER COUNTER CLAIM:Round-Up is a nice chemical because if they have an opening or if Round-Up gets in the plant. No amount of washing can get rid of it. Also, if Round-Up is on the fruit/ vegetal, it might wash into where the spare water goes, and that is not good
