GMO Seaberg, Jordan
Claim
-
Evidence
There is a form of genetically modified rice that is more nutritious and is feeding more than 800 million undernourished people in the world.
-
Counterargument:
The GMO rice has more vitamin A than organic rice, and many people die or go blind from vitamin A deficiency. The rice is cheap to ship out to the world and once it is shipped out, then people can grow the rice in their home country.
Claim
-
Evidence
"President Barack Obama signed a law requiring engineered ingredients to be reported on food packages. [. . .] It allows food manufacturers to reveal the presence of GMOs in writing on their packages, or print a code that provides that information. To be read, the code must be scanned with a smartphone" (Newsela).
Counterargument
Many people can be allergic to components or genes that are in the GMO. So, if they don't know that a food is a GMO, they are in a lot of danger.
