Church Principles
Northpoint Church
The Church
The true church comprises all who have been justified by God's grace through faith alone in Christ alone. We are to be united by the Holy Spirit. They manifest in local churches, who membership should be only believers. Jesus commands us to continue baptism and the Lord's Supper, this confirms and nourishes the believer.
This is an important principle because it shows what the standard we should be meeting is, and how we should be meeting that standard
Jesus Christ
Jesus is fully man and fully God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and sits at the right hand of God.
This is an important principle because Jesus came to save us and is an example we should be living by.
Christian Living
God's justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose. God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially and love others as we would ourselves. We are to make disciples among all people and bearing witness to the gospel
This is an important principle because we have to live in a community with one another and love each other like we are brothers and sisters in Christ
The Holy Spirit
He convicts the world of its guilt. He regenerates sinners, and they are baptized into union with Christ. He also indwells, illuminates, guides, and more for Christ-like living and service
This is an important principle because the Holy Spirit inclines us to do things in the church and have compassion and love towards one another
God
We believe in one God divided into three equally divine Persons. Having sovereign power, graciously purposed from eternity to redeem people and make all things new for his glory
I feel like this is an important principle because God is the center of our religion and he influences everything we do and preach at our church
Acts
The Church
The church should be one God-fearing body that comes alongside each other and cares for one another when one part of the body is down. We also should be encouraging one another to get into the word and share with others.
Acts 9:31- Going on in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it continued to increase
The Holy Spirit
-
The Holy Spirit is the one who calls us to go and do. He is the one who shows us what we are supposed to do and work in our hearts to change anything that we are trying to do on our own
Leaders
Acts 6:7b- A great many of priests were becoming obedient to the faith
Acts 6:4- But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word
Having strong leaders of the church who are in the word and obeying what God has set for the church. They should be preaching the word and not what they think is right.
Jesus
-
Jesus is a key figure in the church and showed us how to live in the times they were in. He told them to go and make more disciples among themselves.
Serving Others
Acts 1:8- You shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth
It is important because we should be helping others with their walk with Christ, and if people don't believe then we should be coming alongside them and showing them the love that Christ showed us.
Similarities
How we serve others/live
We both believe that how we live or serve in the world is huge because we have the chance to help other people
