Promoting Individuals' rights and beliefs
Care workers should always explain any procedures to be carried out. A patient has the right to refuse treatment once they have heard all of the necessary information.

Promoting Equality And Diversity
All patients should be treated fairly irrespective of race, gender, ethnicity and sexuality. Should a care worker witness any discriminatory behaviour this would need to be reported immediately to their line manager
-Non-Discriminatory language when talking to the young people/not patronising
-Meeting individuals needs - Mobility/personal care
-Celebrate any culture/religion this is relevant to the service users

-Need to know basis/secure file/passwords/information to be kept confidential
-Keep personal details/files/records safe
Valuing Diversity
-Displays/toys/resources reflect different cultures/beliefs
-Offers food options; vegetarian, gluten-free, halal, kosher etc
-Celebrate a wide range of festivals with all of the children eg Diwali, Christmas, Chinese New Years etc
-School welcome sign signs in different languages
-Challenge discrimination eg child or staff making racist or sexist comments
-Differentiated task/activities to meet individuals needs
-Allowing time off school for festivals that relates their beliefs e.g. Eid
Keeping Children Safe And Maintaining A Healthy And Safe Environment
-Protecting children from abuse-DBS checks
-Following health and safety procedures/legislations- appropriate staff-pupil ratio; safety scissors; fire drills etc
