BANDURA BOBO DOLL PROCEDURE
AGGRESSIVE MODEL
pushed the doll over, sat on it and punched it, hit on head with a plastic mallet and say aggressive phrases lilke "sock him on the nose"
AROUSAL ROOM
children taken to another room to play for a few minutes
experimenter entered and told them the toys were for other children and so they couldn't play with them
this meant that the children were all in the same emotional state and all experienced frustration, making them more likely to act on any aggression they felt
MODEL ROOM
children played with finger paints and stickers
experimental groups observed an adult role model enter the room and interact with the bobo doll
children observed a role model go through a pre-scripted routine

bandura looked for physical and verbal aggression that imitated the role model and non imitative aggression where children invented their own aggressive actions or phrases
observers recorded the children every 5 seconds
lab and natural experiment because he studies a naturally varying IV which was whether the child was male or female
it has a matched pairs design because each child was only in one condition but they were matched on their level of starting aggression
sample was 72 children, 36 boys and 36 girls all ages 3-5, recruited from stanford university

RESULTS
the children who observed an aggressive role model showed a lot of verbal and physical aggression that resembled the scripted routine the model had acted out
there was little aggression in the non-aggressive condition
in the control group 70% had scored a zero percent for aggression
in general, male role model had a bigger influence than a female role model , the aggressive male model produced more aggression and the non-aggressive male model produced more calm
half saw the opposite sex role model and half saw the same sex role model
