Opioids
Mechanism of Action:
Opioids bind to specific opioid receptors in the nervous system and other tissues. Each opioid receptors elicits a distinct set of neurological responses providing even more specific responses.
Indications:
Anaesthesia
Suppression of Diarrhoea
Pain Relief
Replacement therapy for opioid use disorder.
Nursing Considerations:
Contraindications:
Alcohol, tobacco or other drug addiction.

Nausea
Respiratory Depression
Sedation
Constipation
Itchiness
Euphoria
Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool, dark place. Keep away from direct light and moisture.
Route of Administration:
Can be given orally or by a patch. It can also be given intravenously.
