Levels of care
Secondary health care is provided after the identification of a mental health issue and aims to intervene to provide appropriate support and treatment.
Tertiary health care is provided when the condition has deteriorated and there is a risk of the individual being involved in the legal system. e.g.
Primary health care focuses on health rather than illness, prevention rather than cure, and communities rather than hospitals.
The Victorian MH system
Public sector is organised by area and setup to reflect the needs of people across the lifespan. They all provide assessment, treatment, and support.
