What is Sound?
Center Observations
Tubes and Funnels Center
When someone talks into the other end of the tube it sounds like it is echoing.
Adults who can't hear as well as kids, sometimes need tubes in their ears to help them hear better.
Like Hearing Aids, sometimes adults will cup their ears like a funnel to catch sound waves.
This center makes me think sound is a funnel catching sound waves.
I could hear more sound with a bigger funnel compared to the smaller funnel.
One tube and a funnel on each end. When you speak into it, it is kind of like a telephone.
I noticed that the sound was louder when it went through the tubes and funnels.
Ear Plugs and Book Center
I noticed that when you put a book (with earplugs in) beside your ear and you turn sideways and someone talks to you, you cannot hear them.
If you have earplugs in and books are away from your ears the note is low. When the books are close to your ears the note is high.
When I put my earplugs in the sound got quieter.
When you have earplugs in and you talk normally it is not as loud as when there are books covering your ears.
I noticed when a friend is talking to you and you take one earplug out the sound magnifies
Computer Center
I noticed that when I pressed different keys the lines went faster or slower.
Small sounds have fast sound waves.
I noticed that the computer was showing sound waves.
I noticed when you pressed zoom in on the computer there where red lines and when you were on the normal one with the dots the moved up and down instead of side to side.
Whenever you push a button it makes a low sound same with the high sound.
Beans and Egg Center
I noticed that if you put less beans in it the more lower, and if you put more it's the more higher.
Connection: There are like Moroccas
Intruments
Sign Language Center
Sign Language is mostly used with people who are deaf or are mute.
I think that Sign Language is harder than real words.
