Maslow's theory suggested that the needs at the bottom of the hierarchy ("Physiological") need to be satisfied before the individual can move up to the next stage ("Safety"). An individual will strive to achieve "Self-actualisation" this provides the ultimate sense of achievement as it refers to individuals fulfilling their potential.
