Mechanism of Action:
Serotonin agonist is a compound that enhances the activation of serotonin receptor cells in the brain. The neurotransmitter is associated with positive moods, relaxation and satiety, it therefore helps protect against depressed moods.
Nursing Considerations:
Contraindications:
Pregnancy and breast feeding
Uncontrollable Hypertension
Cardiovascular Disease
Raynaud's Disease
Side Effects:
Recurrent migraines
Nausea and vomitting
Serotonin Syndrome
Anxiety
Drowsiness
Storage Conditions:
Store in room temperature below 30 degrees Celsius or refrigerate. Keep away from moisture and heat.

It can be taken orally and also as a nasal spray.

Serotonin antagonist are a class of drugs used mainly as antidepressants but also as anxiolytics and hypnotics. They act by antagonising serotonin receptors and inhibiting the receptors of serotonin.
Indications:
Schizophrenia
Chemotherapy induced nausea and vomiting.

Contraindications:
Decrease in white blood cells
Having thoughts of suicide
Over weight
Diabetes
Side Effects:
Fatigue and sleeplessness
Muscle Cramps
Nervousness
Dizziness or headaches
Diarrhoea or constipation
