Formby Project - 9 weeks

Try and imagine how the different conditions might affect your main design ideas – your design doesn’t just have to sit in one location, it could be in multiple locations along the line, connected in some way.
Take pictures so that you can draw on them later, to explore form, height and location.
Consider taking regular pictures to turn into a collage of ‘from the city to the sea,'
As you know, I’ll be reviewing you next Monday and so I’m looking for:
· evidence of client analysis (more diagrams, less text)
-
· site analysis (at least 3 areas of analysis that interests you – more your own analysis than found images)
· precedent analysis sheets (again use more of your own drawings to describe your understanding of the building(s) than found images)
· site response (photographs, found objects, collected samples, sketches)
· 1:1000 site section (sketched, not expected to be completely accurate)
-
Read the Formby project brief which is now on VITAL - Learning Resources - make notes on client requirements and programme - visualise them!;
Research about Formby - perhaps use the method you have tried today - research and compile your findings without words using your own drawings and creativity on an A4 piece of paper to begin with. ( You are certainly not limited to a single piece of A4 - but it's often a useful starting point);

(FINAL) Week 7:
bird houses from wind damaged trees & use the wind damged trees like drift wood - storage - make paths with boardwalks and discarded Christmas trees
Buildings that actively engage in those values and allow the occupants to participate also - too vague
Building that become physical manifestations of the values of the local and broader area environmental, cultural and natural - vague

-
Biomimicry to emphasise the design and not make people miss out if they cant find the animals make them more excited to find them

National Nature Reserves (NNRs) were established to protect some of our most important habitats, species and geology, and to provide ‘outdoor laboratories’ for research. Most NNRs offer great opportunities to schools, specialist interest groups and the public to experience wildlife at first hand and to learn more about nature conservation.

Week 6:
This is because his intention wasn't to capture exactly what a castle looks like, but what one feels like, what a dream or a fantasy of a castle might be.
Dream like architecture - think about the fantasy you want linking to the narrative and the interaction (mechanic & Narrative to an Aesthetic)
