For this chapter, there is more focus on the instructor than the learner. Although, each play an important role for distance education to co-exist, the course of the instructor's role is broken down into further detail. The chapter depicts how the the instructor should incorporate many things including user-friendly materials, familiarize themselves with their students backgrounds and so forth. This is to help better acquaint the instructor and student so a relationship can build between them. The Instructional environment, following a well-organized procedure that provides guidance to even the novice distance instructor(Simonson, Smaldino, & Zvacek, 2015, p. 128). Another twist within this chapter is accommodating each student"s needs. When students enroll in courses that are taught at a distance, they are coming from different living circumstances. Some of the students have more experiences, some may not be as fortunate in technology, etc. The instructors need to be certain that the students understand the terminology being used . Today at a minimum, the typical distant student needs only a computer with a modern monitor to view the course materials (Simonson, Smaldino, & Zvacek, 2015, p. 137). With that being said, the use an incorporation of CMS or "course management system has become increasingly popular over the last few years.A course management system allows teachers to manage their classes, assignments, activities, quizzes test and discussion within an accessible online environment(Simonson, Smaldino, & Zvacek, 2015, p. 138) I foresee them being the go-to for distance education as, they can be accessed over the internet. Recapping, distance education can be a learning experience for both parties. The learner can take advantage of the learning opportunities while, the instructor can familiarize themselves with creating a conducive learning environment for all of their students.
