Opening Questions
Based on the cover of the book, what do you infer you will be reading about today?

Formative
Definition: formative assessment can be formal or informal and it assesses the teacher's presentation of the content based off of the students learning. The teacher takes the results and modifies her teaching as needed.
EXAMPLE: exit tickets, round robin chart, think pair share.
Interim/Benchmark
Definition: teachers use this assessment to evaluate were the students are currently in there learning and to see if they are performing well, at grade level, etc.
EXAMPLE: standardized test, STAAR
Summative
Definition: a summative assessment is used to evaluate a student understanding and learning at the end of a unit.This form of assessment is a high stake one.
EXAMPLE: benchmarks, District Assessments, end of unit test.
Performance
Definition- a form of testing that requires the students to perform a task rather than just selecting an answer.
EXAMPLE: Group Projects, Creating a portfolio
Diagnostic
Definition: a diagnostic assessment allows the teacher to assess the students strengths, weaknesses, and the knowledge of the content being taught.
EXAMPLE: Pre-test, questioning, previous assessments.
