What are the parts of the cytoplasm
It contains various organelles such as the ribosomes, chloroplasts(only in plant cells)and cell vacuoles
Well, these organelles can be clearly seen under an electron microscope
Ribosomes:Small round structure that they either to attached to certain membranes or lie freely in the cytoplasm as they ned to synthesis proteins in the cells
Chloroplasts is only found in plant cells. It contain a green pigment called chlorophyll as it essential for photosynthesis and process which plant that can make food
Vacuoles:A fluid-filled space enclosed by a membrane where store substance within the cells.
Animal cells: have a very small vacuoles that contain water and food substance that can usually exist temporarily.
Plant cells:It have a large central vacuole which contains a liquid called cell sap.It contains dissolved substances such as sugar, mineral salts and amino acids.Plus,it enclosed by a partially permeable membrane called tonoplast
How is cell structure related to cell function?
It has 3 cell structure which is:Red blood cell,Xylem vessels and Root hair cell
Red blood cell:-It contains haemoglobin. It means that it binds to oxygen and transport it round the body
-It has a circular, biconcave shape that increases the surface area to volume ratio as it take in and release oxygen at a faster rate.
-It lacks a nucleus and enables the cell to store more haemoglobin for transport of oxygen
Xylem vessels:It has a long hollow tubes extending from the roots to the leaves.
-There are narrow and have no cross-walls(partition walls)to obstruct water flow through the lumen(a hollow space in the vessel).
-They do not have protoplasm to offer resistance to water flow and their walls are thickened with lignin(a woody substance) to prevent collapse of the vessel).
Root hair cell:It has a long and narrow root hair that can increased the surface area to volume ratio of the cell.Water and mineral salts can be absorbed at a faster rate
Protoplasm of a cell is made of three parts
Cell surface membrance
The cells surface membrane or plasma membrane surrounds the cytoplasm of the cells .
It was made up of lipids and proteins as it is partially permeable membrane
Its means that it allows only some substances to pass through it.Hence, the cell surface membrane controls substances entering or leaving the cells
Cytoplasm is the part of the protoplasm between the cell surface membrane and the nucles
Cytoplasm contains specialised structures called organalles
Organelles carry out many function in the cells. Many organelles, such as mitochondria and ribosoms are not visible under the light of microscope
The nucleus constists of a small round mass of denser protoplasm called nucleoplasm, surrounded by membrane called the nuclear envelope
Functions of the nucleus:
It controls cell activities such As cell growth and the repair of worn-out parts.
It is essential for the cell division. Cells without a nucleus, like red blood cells of a mammal, are unable to divide
What does a cells consist of?
A cell is a unit of life. Each living cell consists of living material called protoplasm
Cell wall is part of the plant cells not animal cell because it's absent
Cell wall that encloses the entire plant cell, surrounding the cell surface membrane. It made of cellulose
It protects the cell from injury and gives the plant cell a fixed shape as it was fully permeable
What does the nucleus cointain?
It contain 4 which is:-
Nuclear envelope that seperates the contents of the nucleus from the rest of the cytoplasm.
-Nucleoplasm is the dense material within the nucleus
-Nucleolus plays a part in the making of proteins in the cell.
Lastly, which is chormatin:Is the mass of long thread-like structures found within the nucleus. Each of them is made up of proteins and a compound DNA as it also carried instructions that a cell needs for carrying out its activities
